Introduction To Dreams Workshops

I periodically conduct introductory workshops for working with dreams. In this experiential workshop, the group works together using participants’ dreams. The groups learns through experience: how to be with a dream, how to enter the world of a dream, how to hold oneself in relation to the dream, and methods for approaching the dream contents.

Dreams reflect material being worked through by the mind, outside of conscious awareness. They may be problem-solving; they may bring corrective emotional experiences; they may adjust or complement the waking mind’s attitudes. Most people find that following one’s dreams over time is productive and illuminating.

Working with dreams in a group setting is very intimate, and involves relating to oneself and others in a deep way.

This workshop will provide foundational experiences for working with dreams, on one’s own and with others, in the rest of one’s life. In addition, the workshop will further one’s personal development as well as the development of one’s relationship to community and the world.

Not to leave out the conscious thinking mind, this workshop each time will provide different didactic material concerning ways to approach dream contents. Working with dreams in this workshop is not a single set way, but is a limitlessly creative process. I will bring to each workshop my learnings from more than 30 years of group dream work.

Many people are curious about dreams but feel they haven’t learned as much about them as they would like. I’m often asked for recommended readings about dreams. But I find it difficult to make a recommendation. Dreams are not intellectual in nature. They tend to have their own logic that is not rational. They are essentially relational, concerning relationships within the psyche, with others, and with the environment. Working with dreams in a group is, in my experience, the best possible way of learning about dreams and about working with them.

Upcoming workshops are listed below. If you are interested, please contact me and we will have a brief phone conversation about it. The cost per workshop is $90, which is non-refundable. The workshop is at my office in San Francisco, at the address below.

Saturday, March 22, 2025, 9:00am-12:00noon: Introduction to Dreams - The Method of Contrasts — in this workshop we will engage with dream symbols by contrasting them with different alternatives. This playful approach can be quite revealing and opens one up to the many possibilities of meaning inherent in dreams.
